Northern Credit Union

Northern Credit Union (NCU) is one of the biggest credit unions in Ontario. A full-service and locally operated financial institution, NCU offers personal and commercial banking and financial planning to more than 50,000 member shareholders. NCU’s primary marketing goals are increased share of wallet (existing customers) and increased share of market (new customers), necessitating a combination of conversion focused product campaigns and awareness focused brand campaigns.


Increasing lending through mortgage loans


Historically, NCU has struggled to compete with the mortgage rates of big banks. Rather than compete on rate, we developed a strategy to target audiences at specific points in their ‘mortgage journey’, focusing on the value in flexibility of service for individualized needs.

We developed a strategy to target audiences at different ‘mortgage journey’ points; rather than competing on rate, the goal was to highlight NCU’s flexibility and service options. Creative tailored to each major journey point was targeted based on the demographic and interests prevalent to each point.
